Korean cars are known for one thing... cheap... and that's what they are. Notice how they always follow instead of lead (says alot about fans of Hyundai).

The clown that wants to downshift to First while driving is a hoot. Tell him to stick to his Corolla.
But check the brakes first.

Having experience with both cars I think this review is unfair and nit picky. YES I DO prefer the G37s. It is the better car. But at a 12k markup it better be. Just rembember that for 46k you can but a 2.0 spec R GENESIS coupe for 24k lay down 6k in mods and buy a elantra touring fairly loaded. In other words. These 2 cars are only style and drivetrain and general performance comparables. Not quality comparables.
At 25k to 32,750k you van get the 3.8 gencoupe that offers what I think is good quality for the price. What the reviewer did hit on the head is, the steering wheel can use a softer touch but he leaves out its perfectly thick and weighted as good as the G if not better?
He mentions cheap paddles. I totally agree there. Not only cheap, but awkward compared to the beautifully formed G paddle. The tranny feel as far as touch I don't see it bad for the price but the shifts I guess can feel heavier I guess??
What I would like to see from the genesis coupe at this price point is a stronger feeling more aggressive tranny response. The gen is too smooth for a sport coupe. The tranny is tuned for sedan driving. Also no downshift rev match feature? Why not? 20k altimas get this. And DS needs to be added in paddle mode. Honestly it feels like the paddles are there for show.
I can say just get a manual but with so many companies stepping up on there autos. Hyundai gotta step up there. VW has DSG at a 25k price point NISSAN has CVVT/DRM mitsu has even stepped up with a sportierb paddle shift at the 24k range. So tranny response to the engines power is the genny's main flaw.
Leather in the gen and features in general meet or exceed the 25k-30k margin.
Remember the 29 to 32k is nav, auto n sport pkg.
This car accelerates to 60 and does the 1/4 almost as fast as the G. Corners like the G and up to 100mph feels like a G. You got 2/3 the car for 2/3 the price.
When nissan brings out the silvia. (If they do?) Then we will have a true comparo

I also find the choice of the Genesis name curious for this sports car. Weird imo.

Whatever – I like the car, and I like what it says about Hyundai. I’d like to see a try at a real sports car from the other Korean companies.

I love my G37xCoupe. Hyundai did well to imitate the best, but as this article reveals, it falls short on execution. While price may be the primary reason to choose the Genesis over the G, people should realize that the Infiniti retains its value well, better than competitors and certainly over the unproven Hyundai coupe.
