Satoye Kawasaki, beloved wife of the late George Kawasaki, passed away peacefully after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She leaves behind her son, Gregory (Pamela); grandson, Brandon; and granddaughter, Alysha Kawasaki; sisters-in-law, Fumiko Hirose, Miyuki Kosaka and Nina Okuji; and eight nieces and nephews. Satoye was a longtime resident of Monterey Park, a survivor of the Manzanar internment, and was an original member of the Terminal Island Japanese community.
Private family service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Fukui Mortuary Chapel with Rimban Hiroshi Abiko from Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating.
