Mikako ‘Miki’ Nomura of Alhambra, California was born in Richmond, California to Hatsu and Kichizaemon Nakadegawa on October 21, 1918.
She was a devoted daughter, supportive sister, loving wife and daughter-in-law, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Extended family members gathered often at the family home in Los Angeles in the 1950s and later in Monterey Park during the 1960s through 2000. She is survived by four beloved children: Hatsumi Catherine Crystal (Eric); Arthur Ikuo Nomura (Mary Daval); Norine Nomura (Mike Eichenholtz); Jeffrey Nomura (Susan Findlay); seven grandchildren: Christopher (Azusa), Amy, Celeste Crystal, Adam Crystal, Paul Henry Eichenholtz, Zinnia Nomura, and Amelia Fu Min Nomura; two great-grandchildren: Ezra and Kaela. Mikako is also survived by sister Chizuko Kawano (Nobu) of Los Angeles and brother Roy Nakadegawa (Judy) of Berkeley, California. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry T. Nomura in 1994, and her elder brother, Rev. Clifford Nakadegawa. Mikako passed away on March 1, 2011
Mikako will always be remembered for her selflessness, love of family, and appreciation of the beauty of nature. A memorial service to celebrate Mikako’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Union Church of Los Angeles, 401 E. 3rd St. Los Angeles, 90013.
