The Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute held its annual carnival on June 23 and 24. Performances on Saturday included Wreckin' Crew and Beat Kidz from JCI's break dance class.Dancers from JCI's senior hula class under the direction of Harriet Nagata.
The menu included yakisoba and yakisoba sandwiches made by JCI's Kendo Dojo.
Bargain-hunting at the white elephant/rummage sale.The kendo-vs.-naginata face-off is a popular feature of the carnival.Games of skill included Pitch Til U Win (left) and Jingle Board.
Shorinji Kempo South Bay gave a demonstration.Performances by Bando Hidesomi's Nihon buyo (Japanese classical dance) class.
