CULVER CITY — Venice Honganji Buddhist Temple, 12371 Braddock Dr. in Culver City, will hold its annual Obon Festival on Saturday, July 27, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 28, from 1 to 9 p.m.
Bon Odori starts both days at 6:30 p.m. Just back from Santa Barbara Buddhist Church’s Obon Festival last Saturday, temple members are busily preparing for their own Obon dancing.
The festival will also feature food and games with temple organizations, including Fujinkai, Dharma School and Jr. YBA, operating the booths. The menu will include hot dogs, dango and snow cones.
The 2013 Obon T-shirts can be purchased through the Jr. YBA for $15 (XXL is $17). The back lists dates of all Southern District Obon festivals. Proceeds go towards the Southern District Jr. YBL.
In the Hondo, Tsuki Tsuito Hoyo service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Obon Festival services will be held Saturday at 3 and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.
