Toshiko “Jan” Gohata, a longtime resident of Gardena, went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2014. She was 93 years old. Jan was predeceased by her husband Tomio in 1981.
Together they raised 4 sons: Edwin (Connie), Brian (Joyce), Ted (Linda) and Mark. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Damon (Traci), Phil and Leanna; 2 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Jan loved to cook, sew, crochet and grow vegetables in her garden. She enjoyed sharing with her friends the fruits of her pastimes. Jan was active in her church, Gardena Valley Baptist, for many years. After leaving their family nursery business, Jan worked in the retail industry until her retirement in 1986.
Services will be held on Monday, April 14, beginning at 11 a.m. at Gardena Valley Baptist Church, 1650 W. 158th St., Gardena.
