Shigetomi bday for webIn April, Keiro Intermediate Care Facility resident Kiyono Shigetomi celebrated her 107th birthday at a monthly birthday party made possible by the generosity of Keiro donors and volunteers. She was joined by extended family and friends, including her granddaughter Joyce Ochiai and great-granddaughter Kallie Ochiai, who provided birthday entertainment with Jill and Marisa Katsuda from the volunteer taiko group Daion Taiko from Orange County Buddhist Church. Shigetomi was born in Hiroshima on April 15, 1907 and relocated to the U.S. as a teenager. During World War II, she was interned at Topaz, Utah. She had four sons (three are still living), three stepdaughters, and one stepson. She also has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and has enjoyed living at Keiro for over seven years.
