OAKLAND — The KPFA (94.1 FM) radio program “Apex Express,” which focuses on Asian Pacific Islander issues and culture, will broadcast a special tribute to activist, civil rights leader and movement builder Yuri Kochiyama on Thursday, June 5, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Among those helping with the remembrance of Kochiyama, who passed away on June 1 at the age of 93, are her daughter, Audee Kochiyama-Holman, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Wu.
In the first of a two-part series, rare interviews will be broadcast as hosts Roseli Ilano and Robynn Takayama recount important parts of Kochiyama’s life. Listeners whose lives have been touched by Kochiyama are invited to share in their collective grief of loss and remembrance of what she offered the world. Call in to 1-800-958-9008.
