OAKLAND — The KPFA (94.1 FM) radio program “Apex Express,” which focuses on Asian Pacific Islander issues and culture, will broadcast a special tribute to activist, civil rights leader and movement builder Yuri Kochiyama on Thursday, June 5, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Among those helping with the remembrance of Kochiyama, who passed away on June 1 at the age of 93, are her daughter, Audee Kochiyama-Holman, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Wu.
In the first of a two-part series, rare interviews will be broadcast as hosts Roseli Ilano and Robynn Takayama recount important parts of Kochiyama’s life.
