Ondo dancing was the highlight both nights at the Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center’s Summer Festival, held over the weekend of June 28-29. Above and below: Participants danced around a yagura, with a taiko player on top, on Seabright Avenue.
Above and below: Miracle Kids performed taiko and dance numbers.
Demonstrations of kendo (pictured), karate, judo and ikebana were given.
There were origami lessons and cultural displays in the social hall.
The annual event also featured food booths (above), games for kids (below), a tsukemono contest and a raffle.
