Takeichi Jack Furutani of North Hollywood, Calif., passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on June 19, 2014. Born on Sept. 6, 1923, and raised in El Monte, California, he was interned at Heart Mountain, Wyo. in the 1940s. In addition to his beloved wife, Susie Shizuye Furutani, he was predeceased by his brothers, Jiichi and Sadao. He is survived by his loving daughters, Shirley Yuriko (Kurt) Masuda and Susan Keiko Furutani; granddaughter Ashley Sayuri Masuda; brothers Shoji and Kazuo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is remembered as a loving husband and father.
A private funeral service was held on Saturday, June 28, at Fukui Chapel with Rimban William Briones and Rev. Chuho Matsubayashi of Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating.
