George Wakayama, 91 years old, died in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015.
Born June 9, 1923 in Marysville, Calif., he lived mainly in Los Angeles County. He was stationed in Calcutta, India during WWII with Army Intelligence. He received his BS and MS at USC and worked as a civil engineer for the City of Los Angeles and then the State of California until his retirement, where he was a contributor to Los Angeles’ sewage infrastructure and the state’s Forestry Department and the development of the state’s first offshore drilling.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mae Sueko (Kajimoto) Wakayama. Survivors include his two sisters Hisako Asai and Ruby Fujiwara; and numerous nieces and nephews.
