SANTA MARIA — Guadalupe Buddhist Church will hold its Obon Festival on Sunday, July 26, from 12 to 4:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Cultural Center on the corner of Pine and Tunnel in Santa Maria.

The festival will feature martial arts, taiko drummers, handicraft sales, a bonsai display, and face-painting for the kids.

On the menu are chicken teriyaki dinner ($9 donation), kushiyaki, wonton, sushi, noodles, hapa hot dogs, strawberry shortcake, ice cream and cold drinks.

Obon dancing will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Bring your towels, fans and kachi kachi.

Raffle will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5. First prize is $1,500, second prize $500, third prize $300, fourth through 10th prize $100. There are many other prizes.
