Born Yuki Maruki in Florin, Calif. In 1942 while interned in Rohwer, Ark., she met and married Tom Hayakawa. They moved to Chicago, Ill., where they had two daughters. In 1955, the family returned to Southern California. Yuki was a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes for over 30 years.She passed away peacefully while at rest.
Yuki was the beloved mother of Karen (Ken) Shintaku and Joyce (Alan) Akashi; grandmother to Kori, Kelly, Evan and Eric; great-grandmother to Zack and Colin.
At her request she was buried at sea in Palos Verdes. A Celebration of Her Life was held Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015.
