Lilian Masako “Mako” Ohara, age 83, a long-time resident of Torrance, passed away peacefully on Aug. 20, 2015 at her home in Torrance. Her husband Kozo preceded her in death. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mako is survived by her children Scott (Sue), Dawn (Craig) Stock, Ross, Lynne (Christopher) Remy; grandchildren Stacey and Matthew Ohara, Craig and Megan Stock, Clare and Gregory Remy; sisters Hisako Arai, Ruruko Demand, Shirley Murakami; brothers Joe (Flora) Arai and Robert (Shirley) Arai; sisters-in-law Mary Arai and Nancy Ohara; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by brother Hisao Arai and brothers-in-law Frank Murakami, Seiichiro Ohara and Mitsuro Ohara, and sister-in-law Mae Ohara.
A private service and burial was held on Aug. 29, 2015 at the Gardena Buddhist Church and Green Hills Memorial Park. If you wish to honor Mako’s memory, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
