Resident of Monte Sereno
Edward Morimoto was born on June 10, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA, and passed at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose on January 13, 2017, surrounded by his children. He was the son of Sugi and Sakami Morimoto and brother to sisters Marion & Anne, with whom he lived in Garden Grove and Oxnard, CA prior to being interned to Camp Amache, Colorado during World War II.
Despite having grown up in a farming family, Ed excelled academically, particularly in the sciences, and had a successful career at the Los Alamos and Livermore National Laboratories spanning four decades. When not dedicating his time to career and family, he enjoyed skiing, automobiles, and, particularly later in life, fishing, and he cherished the relationships he developed through his involvement with the San Jose Buddhist Church and the Bando Mitsusa Kai.
He is survived by his wife Penny of nearly 48 years, children Edward Sugi (Phoebe) and Libby (Alan), granddaughter Reese, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces/nephews.
Friends & family are invited to attend his funeral services to be held at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at 7 p.m.
