Kimi Kawamura, a 104-year-old Los Angeles-born Kibei-Nisei resident of Gardena and a long-time minyo and dance instructor, passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2017. Predeceased by her husband, Urataro Arayama, and her daughter, Koharu Arayama. Kimi is survived by her children, Chisato (Ikuo) Sanwo and Mitsuhiro (Hisae) Arayama; grandchildren, Christine (James) Maxwell, Margery (Stephen Lin) Sanwo, Hiroe and Kota Arayama; great-grandchildren, Julia (Daniel) Eastwood, Hallie Maxwell and Justin Lin. Also survived by many other relatives, both here and in Japan.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Chapel (formerly known as Maryknoll Japanese Catholic Center), 222 S. Hewitt St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
