Alice Mutsuko Ono, 100 years old, Torrance resident, passed away on Dec. 31, 2012, with her family close by, just 11 days short of her 101st birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard Ono, who practiced dentistry in Gardena after the family’s return from the Amache Relocation Camp in Colorado. She enjoyed good health and was active with many interests, which included world travels, yoga, well into her 90s, playing bridge and many hand crafts. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her great sense of humor had family members laughing just two days before her passing.
She is survived by her three daughters, Phyllis (Sam) Imamoto, Mildred Suzuki, and Miki (Mike) Ishikawa, and her brother, Shig Fukuyama. Alice was an adored “Obachan” to her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be missed more than words can say. A private service was held on January 12, 2013 at Green Hills Memorial Park.
