Betty Jean (Toni) Fukamaki passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2011. She joins her husband, Dale, who passed away in 1999.
Born in Los Angeles on June 19, 1932, to George and Flora Wong, Toni attended San Pedro Street School, Ojai Valley School and Francis Polytechnic High School. She married Dale Fukamaki in 1953 and together they had five children – Rick (Wendy), Darrel, Terri (James), Robin (Corey) and Dana (Michael). She enjoyed being PoPo to Adam (Melinda), Ryan, Brendan (Jennifer), Megan, Sean and Kyle.
Extremely active, both as a business partner with Dale at Dale Fukamaki and Associates, and as the mother of her five children, Toni had a huge heart and believed in “others first.” She contributed many years to Optimist International and the Exceptional Children’s Foundation.
Toni could light up a room with her personality, spirit and energy and she made friends for life. She was adored by those who met her and became “Mom” and “Popo” to many of her children’s friends.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Toni is survived by her brother George (Alice) Wong.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, Toni’s family asks that donations be made to the Exceptional Children’s Foundation – Dale and Toni Fukamaki Memorial Fund (https://www.ecf.net/donate/memorials) at 8740 W. Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232.
A memorial service is scheduled in the Hillside Chapel (Gate 17) at Rose Hills Memorial Park at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
Directions to the reception which will be held following the service will be given at the service.
