Chiyomi Ogawa

A private funeral service for Chiyomi Ogawa, 97-year-old Terminal Islander, Calif.-born Sansei, who peacefully passed away on June 10, 2021, was held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Kubota Mortuary, with Rev. Mark Nakagawa officiating. Chiyomi was best known as the original bride of the documentary “Six Weddings and a Dress” by Steve and Patty Nagano.

She is predeceased by her husband, James Kaz Ogawa; and is survived by her son, Robert (Teresa) Ogawa; daughters, Donna Ogawa and Susan (Steve) Shimizu; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Junko “June” (Becky Quist) Marumoto; sisters-in-laws, Toyoko (“Koko”) Marumoto and Betsy Marumoto; brother-in-law, Tok Mayeda; also survived by many nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
