A public visitation for the late Mrs. Dorothy Keiko Yamashita, née Ban, a 90-year-old, California-born, Nisei resident of Monterey Park and former internee of Manzanar Relocation Camp during World War II who passed away on April 27, 2013 after a brief illness, will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Fukui Mortuary “Chapel in the Garden,” 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
Rosary will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 10:15 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Chapel, 222 S. Hewitt St., Los Angeles, CA 90012, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., officiated by Father Richard Hoynes.
Mrs. Yamashita was predeceased by her husband, Nobuo Yamashita. She is survived by her children, Wayne (Kathleen) Yamashita, Lorraine (James) Ito, Eileen (Joseph) Carton, all of California, and Karen (Tim) Uraine of Washington. She was a devoted grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister of Grace Ono and Frances Hiraoka. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives both here and in Hawaii.
