Museum of Intercultural Art. This year’s event–Celebrating the Arts of Japan, is on Saturday, April 21.

Performers include Makato Taiko on Japanese drums, the Japanese 13-string zither and bamboo and vertical flute performed by Saeko Kujiraoka, and the Japanese Art of the Sword performed by members of Chuo Kendo Dojo of Los Angeles.

The Spring Celebration at Pilgrim Place is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and features exhibits in the museum and also booths with activities and exhibits, art and artifacts, entertainment, food, and “show and tell” with residents who have served in Japan. The event is one of the more popular held at Pilgrim Place each year–and one of the events that garnered the City of Claremont the honor of being selected as “one of the most festive cities in California” several years ago.

Attendees will also have a change to visit the Petterson Museum of Intercultural Art, which houses more than 10,000 art and artifacts from all over the world.

Pilgrim Place is a senior community of 350 retired clergy, missionaries, activists and those who have spent their career in charitable, humanitarian organizations. There are no RSVPs needed for this event. For more information call Carol Gil, the curator of the Petterson, at 909-399-5544.  The Museum is located at 730 Plymouth Road, Claremont, CA 91711.
