Oct. 7-9 — A camp reunion not to be missed! From Oct.7 to 9, former Poston internees from Camps 1, 2 and 3 along with their families, many with young children, and friends will gather to reconnect, reminisce and share stories.

Buses from sites in the Southland will be available for transportation to the Aquarius Hotel in Laughlin, Nev.

An informal Friday night mixer will showcase vendors and exhibits of Poston Camp life, photos, yearbooks, artwork, veterans table and more more. All editions of the Poston Chronicle newsletter will be on display.

The WRA Final Accountability Report, a listing of names, dates of arrival and departure of internees, will be available for all to see.

A trip to the actual Poston Camp site takes place on Saturday. Everyone willl gather at the Poston Kiosk/Memorial for a brief ceremony to honor those who were interned there.

Imaginations will take flight to comprehend what it was really like to live with relentless heat, sand storms and freezing winter nights for three years. There will be an actual barrack from Poston, a mere 20 x 25 feet of space, that was “home” to those 17,000 Japanese American families.

The banquet culminates this gathering Saturday evening with good food, fun, entertainment, music, song, games, key note speaker, vendors and exhibits.

With this  “Legacy Journey” quite possibly the last organized trip to Poston, all former Postonites are encouraged to come and share their untold stories. This part of American history needs to be heard and documented as a reminder to younger generations to never forget.

Professional videographers will be on hand at the Aquarius Hotel and throughout this event. If you’d like to be interviewed, or can be interviewed prior to the event, we can accommodate you.
