Shizuko (“Sue”) Takata, born
in San Francisco, Calif. on Sept. 4,
1921 and long-time resident of Los
Angeles, Calif., passed away peacefully
on July 3, 2013. As a young
child, Shizuko returned to Japan,
completed high school in Japan and
thereafter returned to America in
1938. After her release from the internment
camp at Rohwer, Ark., she
took up residence in Chicago, where
she met and married Tomoyuki
(“Richard”) Takata. The couple
moved to Los Angeles in 1946.
Shizuko enjoyed helping her
husband establish and manage
Southland Poults and Chick Sexing
Service, as well as raising a family
and enjoying her favorite pastimes of
sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Predeceased by her husband
Richard, she is survived by her three
children — Gary, Susan (Tim Gorman)
and Gail (Craig Rogers), as
well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at
Fukui Mortuary on Aug. 3, 2013.
