Mary Tetsuko Yokoyama

Mary Tetsuko Yokoyama passed away on October 5, 2020 after a short stay at Cedars Sinai Hospital. She was 94 years old and able to live on her own until the last month. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2009.

Mary happily overfed her pet dog Peanut. She was engaging, funny, and playfully instigated zany Lucy-like antics with her family, which made home life quite the adventure. A wonderful wife, mother, and a great friend to stray animals. She will be greatly missed.

She enjoyed bowling at Holiday Bowl for over 15 years. She loved hitting and then chasing a small white ball on courses all over town with her friends from the Tri Par and other women’s golf clubs for 30 plus years. She also met and made many new friends while playing bridge at the Seinan Senior Citizen Center on Jefferson Boulevard.

She is survived by her children Teresa Iizuka (husband Richard), David Yokoyama (wife Gwen), Sandee Watanabe (husband Craig); grandchildren Nicole Iizuka Bittner (husband Kale), Jeffrey Yokoyama (wife Suzuye), Scott Yokoyama, Sharyse Watanabe, Sheldon Watanabe; and her beloved dog Peanut.

Due to the current environment, and to honor Mary’s wishes, a public service will not be held.
