Joy Keiko Ono, 100-year-old, Pomona-born, Nisei resident of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Preceded in death by Tony, beloved husband, Joy is survived by daughter, Susan A.; and cousin, Mary (Saito) Higa.
Moved from California to Japan at 12, Joy survived the early death of both parents, WWII, and earned a BA from Doshisa University in Kyoto. She returned to her only hometown, L.A., retired from MGM Studios and enjoyed line dancing to 90.
No funeral services will be held. Joy will be buried at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Culver City.
