Funeral services for the late Mrs. Nelly Aiko Shimazu, an 85-year-old, Los Angeles, Calif.-born Nisei resident of Gardena and former Poston Relocation Camp internee who proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Women’s Army Corps during WWII who passed away on Sept. 2, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 7 p.m. at Gardena Valley Baptist Church, 1630 W. 158th St., Gardena, officiated by Rev. Cliff Rapp of South Bay Free Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shimazu is survived by her husband, John Shimazu; children, Evelyn (Eric) Yee, Helen (Cliff) Jeng, Irene Robinson, Steven (Gayle) Shimazu and Susan Shimazu; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives both here and in Japan.
