Sachio Kano, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 25 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Sachio was born Jan. 11, 1929 in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. In 1955, he moved to the United States for graduate study at the Art Institute of Chicago. Sachio relocated to Los Angeles in 1962 to pursue careers in acting and social work. In 1971, he founded Asian Rehabilitation Service, which provides employment programs for people with disabilities. Sachio has performed in numerous television commercials, independent films and live theater.
Sachio is survived by his wife of 41 years, Keiko; his four children, Uni, Aya, Manami and Lenn; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Eliza.
The memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 S. Central Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., (213) 617-9097. Memorial contributions may be made to Asian Rehabilita¬tion Service, Inc. or West LA United Methodist Church.
