Betty Watanabe passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Whittier,
Calif. She was born in San Francisco in 1915, and lived her whole
life in California, mostly in Los Angeles and Whittier, except for a
stay in Amache Relocation Camp in Colorado during World War II.
Betty is survived by her sons, John (Aiko) and Ronald; grandchildren,
Jennifer and Joseph Watanabe; daughter-in-law, Laurel Watanabe;
sisters, Amy Naito, and Sadame Iwasaki; brother, Ronald (Hisako)
Nomi; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was
predeceased by her husband, John; son, David (Laurel): and sister,
Kiyoko Katayama, and her husband Jimmy.
Since she retired in 1980 after 28 years in the food industry, she
had time to visit her many relatives, friends at Langley Center, and
tend to her prized orchids and African violets.
She was loved by all for her friendly, thoughtful, and gentle nature,
and never said an unkind word about anybody.
Funeral service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 S.
Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the
Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday, May 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.
in the Visitation Room. Mourners should enter the cemetery through
Gate 1.
