Raymond Shimizu, 66, of Villa Park, Calif. passed away on Monday,
June 21 after dealing with many serious health challenges.
He was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Yoshie; brothers,
Allen and Michael; and sister, Kathleen.
Born May 7, 1944, in Koloa, Kauai, he left Hawaii at 18 to serve in
the U.S. Army. After receiving his degree from Cal State L.A., he
eventually went on to become CEO and President of Moskatel’s, Inc.
After expanding the floral, party, and craft chain from nine to 30
stores, he and his partners sold the company to Michaels Stores, Inc.
in 1987.
Ray is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Alan Ikemura (Carolyn) and
Mark; daughter, Kelly; grandchildren, Nolan, Brooke, and Britney;
brother, Glenn (Mildred) of Torrance; sisters, Edith Harada (Bobby)
of Gardena and Lillian Yokoyama (Kerry) of Waimea, Hawaii.
Per his request, private family service was held on Saturday, June 26
at Green Hills Memorial Park.
