Tetsuto Yamachika passed away Aug. 5 at the age of 87. He was born
Oct. 23, 1922 in Honolulu, Hawaii and had been an 11-year-resident of
Gardena. Prior to retirement, he served for 50 years as a Department
of Defense civilian in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Yamachika is survived by
his loving wife, Katherine Yamachika; children, Gregg Yamachika
(Johnna Yorichi), Aileen Bunin (Nicholas); grandchildren, Lindsay and
Kyle Ya-machika; sisters, Gladys Okamura, Mildred Morioka; brothers,
Henry and Edward Yamachika. Memorial services will be held on Sunday,
Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. at Green Hills mortuary chapel, 27501 S Western
Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes. Interment will be private. Green Hills
