Private memorial service for the late Mr. Katsuo Yamanaka, 88-year-
old resident of San Gabriel, who passed away on Sept. 1, 2010, was
held at Fukui Mortuary “Chapel in the Garden,” officiated by
Rimban Hiroshi Abiko of Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Mr. Yamanaka was predeceased by his son Dennis Yamanaka. He is
survived by his wife, Fumi Yamanaka; children, Susan (David) Yonai,
Debbie (John) Yee, and Gary (Patricia Higuchi) Yamanaka;
grandchildren, Jason, Shannon, Brandon and Aaron Yonai; Alan and
Kristine Yee; brother, Minoru (Machiko) Yamanaka and sister, Kiyoko
Arai of Japan; sister-in-law, Kaoru Ota. He is also survived by many
nieces, nephews and other relatives here and in Japan.
