Robert Kiyoshi Eshima was born on June 22, 1926 in Stockton, Calif. to Takuo and Takao Arimoto Eshima. He passed away on Dec. 1, 2011 in Gardena.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy K. Hasegawa of Torrance; and Emika Yamasaki of Hiroshima, Japan. Proceeded in death by Sister Sally Ouye; and brothers Takeshi and Masaru.
Robert graduated from Lodi High School in 1945. Shortly thereafter he was interned at Rowher relocation camp in Arkansas. After leaving Rowher, Robert enlisted in the Army, which then became his career. He was awarded many accolades, including the Meritorious Service Award, Freedom Team Salute Certificate of Appreciation, and Meritorious Service Medal, for his distinguished Army career of more than 22 years.
Funeral service for the Late Robert Kiyoshi Eshima will be held at Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St., Gardena, on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. Rev. Alan Sakamoto from Orange County Buddhist Church will be officiating.
