Kazuko Matsuura, born on Jan. 3, 1927 in Kure, Hiroshima, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, in Los Angeles. She was predeceased by her husband, Tamotsu Bob Matsuura, in 1987.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren: sons Masakazu Matsuura and Yoshinori (Wendy) Matsuura; daughters Sumi (Scott) Grossman, Kyoko (Larry) Muronaka, Hiroko (Gary) Eddow; grandchildren Jenna and Kevin Grossman; Emy, Erik, and Keili Eddow; Noah and Nelson Muronaka.
She is also survived by her family in Japan: sisters Dr. Yoshie (Dr. Zenro) Ikezawa, Mieko Takahashi, and Taeko (Toru) Arita; brothers Dr. Kazuaki (Hiroko) Takahashi, and Akira (Kiyoko) Watanabe.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The funeral service will be held at the Gedatsu Church, 7850 Hill Drive, Rosemead, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, immediately followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, 204 N. Evergreen Ave., Los Angeles. The family requests that flowers be omitted and if so desired, contributions can be made in her memory to Calvary Chapel, Echo Park (http://www.ccechopark.com) or to the North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble (http://www.ntyme.org).
