LONG BEACH — The North Long Beach Community Action Group and National Nusa Champions of Neighborhood USA will host a Long Beach City Council 8th District candidate forum on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Art Expo Center, 4321 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Candidates Al Austin, Lillian Kawasaki and Gustavo Rivera are expected to attend. Laurie Angel, former North Project Area committee chair and community advocate, will be the moderator.

The candidates will each give a two-minute opening and closing statement, and will have two minutes to respond to questions. Media representatives from The Press Telegram, LBReport.com, Greater Long Beach, Signal Tribune, and Long Beach City College will be asking questions about the budget, the airport, the port, public safety, neighborhoods/community and infrastructure. There will also be questions from the audience.

The election for Districts 2, 4 and 8 will be held on Tuesday, April 10.
