SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown on March 1 announced the appointment of Eric Kawamura, 57, of Orinda to the board of the Housing Partnership Corporation, where he has served since 2006.

Kawamura has worked at Citibank since 2002 and has been vice president and associate general counsel since 2006. He worked at California Federal Bank from 1986 to 2002 in multiple positions, including senior vice president and senior counsel. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Kawamura is a Democrat.

Incorporated in 1988, the California Housing Partnership Corporation is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping government and nonprofit housing agencies preserve and expand the supply of affordable housing for lower income households throughout the state.

The staff includes Ross Nakasone of San Francisco, who serves as sustainable housing policy coordinator.
