The 2012 Tule Lake Pilgrimage Committee announced that registration for this year’s pilgrimage is now closed.

“We are completely full,” pilgrimage registrar Michael Beusch said. Noting that registration filled very early this year, he said that a waiting list of the next 50 registrations received will be maintained to fill spaces created by cancellations.

The 19th pilgrimage, themed “Understanding No-No and Renunciation,” will continue the focus on the 12,000 Japanese Americans segregated at Tule Lake who protested the government’s demand they prove loyalty while unjustly imprisoned in American concentration camps.

The next Tule Lake Pilgrimage will take place in 2014.
