Cherrystones’ Invitational Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at the Lakewood Country Club with tee times from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year marks the 23rd annual tournament sponsored by Leonard Kim of Cherrystones Restaurant to benefit the Gardena Pioneer Project.

Founded in 1970 by Kaneji Oka and Karen Uyekawa, the Gardena Pioneer Project was created to provide special programs for the Issei generation. Over the years the program has expanded to include the Nisei generation as well.

“The Gardena Pioneer Project is a wonderful organization led by Karen Uyekawa. They work tirelessly to give some quality of life to our senior citizens,” stated Kim. “I’m honored and proud to be part of this effort for 23 years now. I wish them continued success with their programs and will continue to support this organization.”

Three flights will be offered to both men and women: an A Flight, a B Flight and Callaway (men 27 and up and women 30 and up). The tournament is restricted to 80 golfers selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Fee is $180 per golfer and includes  green fees, golf carts, and tee bag. Golfer contests include closest to the pin, hole in one, and jackpot.

Highlights include an awards banquet, door prizes and an unprecedented “golfers-only drawing” to be held at Cherrystones Restaurant, 15501 S. Vermont Ave., Gardena.
