GARDENA — Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St. in Gardena, will hold its 2012 Obon Festival on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 3 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 9 p.m.

Bon Odori will take place at 6 p.m. both days. Everyone is invited to participate. The last dance practice will be held Tuesday, July 31, at 7 p.m. in the church parking lot.

Halldale Avenue between 166th Street and Gardena Boulevard will be blocked off for the dancing.

UC Irvine’s Jodaiko will perform at 4:45 p.m. both days, followed by Gardena Buddhist Church’s own Isami Taiko at 5:15 p.m.

Tours of the Hondo will be given at 5 and 7 p.m. both days.

Food booths will offer teriyaki, udon, Spam musubi, sushi, tamales, hot dogs, corn, and the ever-popular dango.
