The Japanese American National Museum hosted author Diane C. Fujino, associate professor and chair of Asian American Studies at UC Santa Barbara, who discussed her new book, “Samurai Among Panthers,” on the life of civil rights activist Richard Aoki at the Tateuchi Democracy Forum on Aug. 4. Aoki, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 70, was the most prominent non-African American member of the Black Panther Party.
