The Little Tokyo Library Quilters pose with the Manji Raffle Quilt.

The Little Tokyo Library Quilters Annual Quilt Show on Saturday, Aug. 18, promises to be better than ever, featuring many beautiful new quilts sewn this past year as well as a large assortment of craft items, Asian fat quarters, and non-Asian fabrics.

Many Asian-themed T-shirts and several quilts ideal for gift giving will also be on display.

The show will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Union Church, 401 E. Third St. (at San Pedro Street). Free parking in the church parking lot will be available during the show.

The Quilters have outdone themselves with this year’s spectacular Manji Raffle Quilt, an intricate and colorful creation based on the “manji” design, a Buddhist symbol. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the show for $2 each or three for $5. They may also be purchased from Friends of the Little Tokyo Branch Library board members or Quilters. All proceeds from the raffle tickets and Quilt Show will go to the LTB Library for the purchase of various Japanese cultural materials and library programs.

The Quilters meet on alternate Friday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the LTB Library on Los Angeles Street and Second Street, where they work on the Raffle Quilt throughout the year, exchange quilting ideas, and share their latest creations.
