One person was injured Wednesday in a collision involving a Metro bus and another vehicle in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Paramedics sent to Third Street and Central Avenue about 5 a.m. transported the injured person to a hospital for treatment of a “non-life-threatening injury,” said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The bus struck a building at the intersection, Scott said. The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.

The accident left a gaping hole in a vacant office space on the southwest corner of the intersection, across the street from Centenary United Methodist Church to the east and Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple to the north. The space was formerly leased to Vespa of Los Angeles, a scooter company.

The intersection was closed to traffic for hours. A fence has been put up around the damaged buiding.
