SACRAMENTO — North American Food Distributing Co. Inc. will present the eighth annual Northern California Premium Sake Fest on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento, 1230 J St., Sacramento.

The festival will feature premium sake, beer and shochu (a distilled equivalent of sake) from Japan. Independent microbrewery sake masters from various regions of Japan will bring their finest. Local restaurants will serve sushi, and calligrapher Aoi Yamaguchi will create artwork using ink and a mop.

Highlights will include a “Fast and Furious” sushi-making contest, a blind sake-tasting contest, a taiko performance and a silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Heart Center, the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation and other local non-profit organizations. The event is co-sponsored by Sacramento Magazine and Takara Sake USA.
