Textile artist Setsuko Hayashi (left) gave a shibori and yuzen demonstration and workshop on Sept. 16 at the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena in conjunction with the exhibition “Kimono in the 20th Century.” Hayashi, who also gave a workshop at the museum in May, showed participants how to create their own designs using shibori, a traditional technique in which fabric is bundled and dyed. Additional layers of color are added by rebundling the fabric and repeating the process until all of the desired colors are incorporated into the overall partern.
