Saturday was a busy day at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo.
Kids (and some adults) took holiday photos with Japanese American Santa, aka Doug Wakida, who came all the way from from up north — Fresno. He was filling in for Rodney Kageyama, who was unavailable this year.
Cartoonist Stan Sakai was on hand to sign copies of his “Usagi Yojimbo” comic books, and a cardboard cutout gave visitors an opportunity to take souvenir photos with the samurai rabbit.
In conjunction with the exhibition “Giant Robot Viennale 3,” artists Saelee Oh and Albert Reyes conducted hands-on workshops. Oh showed how to make portraits of one’s spirit animals, while Reyes gave drawing lessons.
