SAN JOSE — The Japantown Community Congress of San Jose and San Jose City Councilmember Sam Liccardo will hold a public meeting to discuss the next steps in the development of the Corporation Yard on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Northside Community Center, 488 N. 6th St., San Jose.

San Jose City Councilmember Sam Liccardo

The yard is the city-owned property bordered by 6th, 7th, Jackson and Taylor streets, adjacent to Japantown. Plans to develop the site as part of Japantown have been under discussion for years but were impacted by the economic downturn.

Currently, the site is being used for public parking seven days a week (free on Sundays) and for the Japantown Certified Farmers Market on Sunday mornings year round.

Liccardo (whose district includes the 122-year-old neighborhood), city staff, and representatives of developer Williams/Dame will be present. Light refreshments will be served.
