Myra Shindo passed away on Jan. 23, 2013 in Los Angeles. She was 57 years old. Her life was full as an accomplished singer and stage performer, school psychologist, former nurse, teacher, and lover of animals and photography. She earned multiple graduate degrees and worked as a psychologist at Oak Street Elementary School in the Inglewood Unified School District.
She leaves her partner of 26 years, Dr. Walter Rosskopf; a sister and a brother, Janice (Edward) Chang and Alan (Grace) Shindo; aunts, Haru Yoshida and Shiz Nakazawa; a niece, Tami Blinn, a nephew, Rei Shindo, and many cousins.
The kindness and support shown by Myra’s many friends and co-workers during her illness are deeply appreciated by her family. A private memorial service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Myra’s name to Friends of Animals.
