Eiji “Fred” Matsuoka, 96, Torrance, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at South Bay Keiro Nursing Home with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life was held on his birthday, Saturday, Feb. 2.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Ogden, Utah, son of Eitaro and Masu Matsuoka. He is survived by a nephew, Wayne Matsuoka; best friend and companion, Tamie Greene, and her children, Torben and Cindy Lenholdt; Diane, Andrew and Cecily Greene; Francis and Trudy Greene; Randy, Isabel and Isabella Greene.
Fred was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a gardener for over 60 years with customers in Hollywood and Culver City. He retired in 1996. Fred was a hard-working, honorable man but most of all he will be remembered as a dear friend. You are “our” sunshine, our only sunshine … you will be missed.
