Chishu Tomohide Uesu, M.D. died peacefully of natural causes on March 10, 2013. He was 96 years old. Dr. Uesu was a practicing physician for approximately 57 years. He was a graduate of Keio University School of Medicine in Japan.

Dr. Uesu was born in Hilo, Hawaii but his family returned to Japan when he was eight years old. He returned to the United States in 1952. Dr. Uesu’s father, Chirin Uesu, was one of the first Japanese doctors to establish a private hospital in Hawaii around 1913.

Carrying on in his father’s tradition, Dr. Uesu practiced in the fields of cardiology and internal medicine. He also published a number of medical research papers.

Dr. Uesu was a resident of Orange County for almost 49 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruriko Uesu, to whom he was deeply devoted, two sisters, Hiroko and Yasuko, four nephews, and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held on March 23, 2013, 3:00 p.m., at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. The family requests no flowers, donations or koden.
