SAN MATEO — Kimochi Inc. of San Francisco has just completed purchase of a building at 453 N. San Mateo Drive in San Mateo, which will allow the agency to extend its tradition of care to Peninsula seniors.

Bay Area-based HKIT Architects has been retained to spearhead renovations and a capital campaign will soon be kicked off. Once renovations are completed, Kimochi San Mateo will provide residential care for 14 seniors, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, with future plans for home-delivered meals, transportation services and adult social day care.

Eight rooms will have private patio space; also planned are a kitchen upgrade, expanded lobby and creation of an activity center. Plans are to open by the summer 2014.

Before construction begins, Kimochi is opening its doors to introduce the community to the new site, share its plans and provide a short guided tour. Open house dates and times are: Saturday, March 23; Sunday, April 28; Sunday, May 19; and Saturday, June 22. Each open house is from 1 to 3 p.m.; tea and snacks will be available.
