Hiroko Nonaka Ochiai, 82, of Buena Park, Calif., formerly of Hilo, Hawaii, died April 11 due to complications of heart failure after a fall.
She was born in Pa’auhau and raised in Pi’ihonua near Hilo, Hawaii along with her sisters, Misue and Hiroe, and her brother, Henry.
She graduated from Hilo High School in 1949 and moved to California. She worked for years for Beckman Laboratories in Fullerton, and retired many years later from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
She is predeceased by her son, Garrick, and survived by her husband, Clyde Ochiai; her daughter, Natalie (Ross) Ito; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Ochiai; her granddaughter, Kallie Ochiai; and many relatives in Hawaii and the Mainland.
Memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Orange County Buddhist Church, 909 S. Dale St., Anaheim, CA 92804. The family kindly requests casual/aloha attire. Arrangements made by Fukui Mortuary.
